Esmeralda Zapata

Green Team Member

Esmeralda is a senior at Sumner Academy of Arts and Science in the Douglass-Sumner neighborhood. They enjoy learning about the environment and landscaping, which inspired them to join the Green Team in the spring of 2021. During their time at Green Team, they have learned how to better their environment and the community they grew up in. Esmeralda’s love for the environment is what inspires them to take classes like environmental science and biology. They hope to continue their education next year by getting their associate’s at KCKCC before going on to get a degree from an out-of-state university. Eventually, they want to use the skills they learn in Green Team and college to create a farm that helps better the environment.
