Blue Tyx

Climate Justice Organizer

Blue Tyx is a child of the Midwest who is thrilled to call KCK home after two decades living “abroad” in Texas and Costa Rica. He has worked as a journalist in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley, where he wrote about the human impacts of environmental injustice and inhumane border politics, as well as a teacher at a bilingual Quaker school persevering in the cloud forest of Costa Rica, which is rapidly disappearing due to climate change. Most recently, he taught Spanish and Creative Writing in KCK’s historic Argentine neighborhood. Together with his family, Blue enjoys gardening, birdwatching, ultimate frisbee, walking and biking, and finding out about lesser-known and under-appreciated places in KCK and beyond. As Climate Justice Organizer, he is especially interested in learning about how climate change currently affects the daily lives of northeast KCK residents, so that we can organize for solutions that make a real, immediate, and lasting impact.
